The processes and procedures of doing business in our Company and with our company conform to global best practices. This is attested to by the certification for ISO 9001 in 2012 and 14001 in 2014 by Bureau Veritas. The Company is currently certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2017.
The Company was successfully audited on ISO 9001:2015 in July 2018.
It is worthy to briefly re-state what these standards mean:
- ISO 9001:2015 which is known as the quality management system outlines ways to achieve and sustain bench marks for consistent quality performance and service. Quality is achieved by putting in place, and adhering to, processes or systems that improve the way a Company operates at all levels of its business, thereby ensuring customer and stakeholder satisfaction, cost savings and a successful business. This accomplishment also implies that since Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc (OOPC) received its first certification, the Company has shown continuous improvement in its adherence to the Company's policies, processes and procedures of quality performance and customer satisfaction.
- ISO 14001:2015 is centered around the Company's environmental management system and is a set of processes and practices that enable an organization to reduce its environmental impact and increase its operating efficiency. It is a frame work that helps a Company achieve its environmental goals through consistent control of its operations, ensuring that the Company is environmentally friendly, that is, the Company's operations do not cause harm to the environment.
- OHSAS 18001:2007 occupational, health and safety management certification is an international standard which provides a framework to identify, control and decrease the risks associated with health and safety at work. OOPC achieved the certification in November 2016 by setting appropriate health and safety policies, procedures and protocols to ensure it is a safety conscientious organization. It has ensured the health and well-being of employees, contractors and the public by reducing and eliminating workplace hazards leading to a reduction in accident and incident rates.
Visitors to Okomu and those wishing to do business with Okomu are therefore required to comply with these standards.
