No fewer than 44 staff of Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, weekend received certificates and house hold items for their long and dedicated services to the company.
The 44 recipients who received the long service awards after putting in between 15 and 25 years of meritorious services were full of praises for the management of the Company led by Dr. Graham Hefer, the Managing Director, for what the awardees described as the company’s consistencies in rewarding the staff for hard work and dedication to duty.
In his address before presenting the awards, Dr Hefer said he is always very happy to see the workers bubbly with happiness adding, “today, it is my turn to thank you, I salute you all, the recipients with a big thank you, because you deserve these awards.
“It is through your hard work that the company attained what it is today and I say congratulations once again.
“I am asking for one thing from you, that is, you should continue to be loyal staff of the company as well as to be good ambassadors of the country, any where you go always speak good of the company and that is the only way the company can grow and maintained its growth and I am looking forward for many more years”
Comrade Onyesom Kennedy the chairman of the worker’s union who spoke in an interview, thanked the management for this year’s awards, describing it as one of the incentives to motivate the workers by the management.
According to Onyesom, workers of Okomu oil palm company have every reason to be thankful to the management because for the past 28 years, the management have not renaged in the long service award.
They have been consistent and this is why the cordial and strong relationship between management and union have been very strong which also made possible the achievements of the company,
“We will continue to be grateful to the managing director, Dr. Hefer and his team for their focus, especially to the workers welfare.
“While I will continue to praise the managing director for his magnanimity towards the workers welfare, I will also call on the employees not to renage in putting in their best”. he said.
Adesuwa Uwujaren who is also a recipient of the long service award for her 20 years of service to the company said she was overwhelmed by the award because the company has changed her life for the past 20 years and prayed that God will continue to preserve the company so that it will continue to provide for the workers.
Each of the recipients received a certificate and various gifts that ranged from 5kv generators, complete set of settees, deep freezers, Plasma television sets among others.
